the deltas are better than the ridgid. of all ridgid’s staionary power tools, the 1400 was the weak link. some were ok but most apparently needed help to perform well (although michael fortune swears by his 14” ridgid (orange also) band saw). too bad it’s not an older gray models. those carried a lifetime warranty regardless of ownership.

that delta for $400 might still a touch high. what model is it and how powerful is the motor? does it have a miter gauge and is the fence serviceable? but if all you want to spend is $100, the ridgid will work, but you may be balancing the upper and lower wheels, chanking out the drive belt to a link belt and doing a few more modestly priced improvements (probably ~ $100 in all excluding a fence) before it performs properly.

-- there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.
