I built counter tops for several years in a small cabinet shop. I agree that using a trim router and keeping it flat is important. I also would suggest for those that don’t do it often is to tilt the router a little so the bit can’t touch the other surface. Finish the edge with a file or a sanding block and away you go to MIL happly!
