the McAvoy charter does report with a bias. But his bias is not left vs right, it is truth over theatrics. The character calls people out to support their comments and assertions. If a candidate says freedoms have been taken away, then McAvoy wants to follow up, ask which freedoms, how, when, etc… Mainstream news organizations (left right and everything in between) are afraid to ask hard, real questions because they can alienate advertisers, viewers, and guests. Political guests won’t come on shows that hold them accountable. For some of the campaign in 2008 Palin wouldn’t go on any show that did not allow her to pre-validate the questions they would ask.

Jon Stewart does a good job with having politicians today debate themselves by using tape – Romney saying the economy is worse under Obama, and then denying he ever said it. Jon Stewart will give it to the left as well, like on Obama's first day in office. That said, he won’t press a live guest. Like everyone else he lets them wiggle out.
