Actually it is closer to 2 lbs due to the fact that wood is sold nominally and a 4/4 board is only 13/16” in actual thickness generally.
Here is the math.
Density black cherry = 33.34 lbs/cu.ft / 12 = 2.78 lbs per actual board foot X .8125 = 2.26lbs/ nominal bf
