Posted on Choosing between two table saws

CL is certainly the way to go. We own a 3 hp unisaw and a 3 hp PM 66. I also have the Ridgid 3650 but as soon as I find another 3 hp cabinet saw the ridgid is gone. And just to let you know, I gave less money for my unisaw and PM 66 combined then what you propose to spend on the Ridgid, in fact I gave almost as much for my Ridgid saw on clearance as I have given for both of our cabinet saws. Just to give more details though, I gave 400 for the unisaw (9 years old) in good working clean condition. The PM 66 was 50.00 and has a 52” fence, has a 3 phase motor. It will require around 600.00 in extra money spent before the PM 66 is in like new condition and in service. But after a new motor, new arbor bearings, new paint and all cleaned and lubed, we will easily have a 1500.00 + table saw for around 650.00 total. Just 2 weeks ago I found a Rockwell Unisaw 3 hp on CL for 200.00. The owner had listed it, wrongly, as a Rockwell contractor saw but when I clicked on it I seen clearly the Unisaw nameplate photographed. I called but was the second caller. Just saying those deals are regularly found, and not considered rare at all. -- Jerry Nettrour, San Antonio, www.topqualitycabinets.net |
