I Have an old delta contractor saw that I just put a new fence on. I ended up getting a delta from toolsplus for $158 with free shipping. I was considering going with the Bies but I just couldnt bring myself to spend that kind of cash.

So far I am very very impressed with the Delta fence. Installation was pretty easy. I did have to modify the fence just a little. The slider on the back side of the fence was too far out from the saw so I had to relocate the holes on that. Also the measuring tape on the front of the fence does not line up with the blade but I never use that for measurement anyways.

I had a chance to get a good look at a Bies fence on a newer craftsman cabinet saw a few days ago. The design is very very similar to the Delta(who owns Bies). The real difference between the two is the Bies is made of steel and has replaceable particleboard faces on the fence. The delta is more aluminum and steel. The Bies rails and fence are longer than the Delta and the price is substantially higher. As far as the method that the fence slides on the rails it looks like the two are nearly identical. Both fences glide across the rails very easily.

After seeing the Bies in person I have zero regret for purchasing the Delta. Given the choice between the two I would go with the Delta and buy more tools with the cash you save.

Hope this helps your decision,
