I’m in the same boat except I’m upgrading over the HF 5 speed bench model because it’s just too underpowered for me. As Scott mentioned (and I contacted him about it, actually) I’m looking at the HF heavy duty benchtop DP and have since yesterday started to consider the floor model (which seems to be the exactly same thing just taller). You can get it for around $180 with the 20% coupon and from what I’ve read so far they’ve gotten good reviews.

I also looked at the PC from lowes and the ridgid from HD. The ridgid is a nice machine but as others mentioned not $500 nice.mthe PC would probably be what I’d get otherwise but even with 10% movers coupon it’s $270. The manager at HF is letting me return my drill press for store credit which will be used for the new one and I have some jointer knives to return there as well so ill be getting the new press for around $120. I know thats not your situation but even at just the 20% coupon it’s worth it.
