It sure looks to have sprung from Sam’s design. I suspect that “reclining” refers to the rake of the back, which seems extreme to me. As a US guy, “recliner” makes me think of things that transform via soft pieces of metal attached in a scissors fashion from a soft chair in which I can fall asleep to a nearly horizontal chair in which I can fall asleep not only faster, but also louder.

My commission is to create the last of a series of four which a grandfather promised to his grandchildren. Sadly, he died before he could build #4. It will be a rich woodworking experience to build it in his shadow.
