I ruined a burl bowl turning many years ago trying to turn thin. Left approximately 12 inch waste on each side of the bury, seal ends and waited six months before turning,

Wood still wet and had many voids (holes) inside once bark removed. Started turning between centers using 2 prong center in headstock and live center in tailstock. Mounted in chuck and was doing well turning away inside until had a catch.
