Anyone have a good way of cleaning the pads on the sandblaster multilayer angle grinder discs? I have been shaping a lot of end grain for some projects and it has a way of gumming up the discs, then mostly burns the wood. There is still plenty of the flaps left so I would hate to just throw it out. I tried using the abrasive belt cleaner but the pads are too built up.
If they are cloth backed, soak them in a bucket with a product like simple green and water mixed for an hour or two then spray them with a garden hose. Hang to dry, good as new. I use this method with my 18 X 36 drum sander belts and my 6 X 48 belts.
I have a sandpaper cleaning stick. It like a giant piece of rubber like substance specially made for cleaning sand paper. I think I bought it at Rockler. It really does work on the belts and disks of my sander. It is a real legitimate product that really does work and it is specifically made for cleaning sandpaper. I think I paid about $6 or $7 for it. I might have even bought it at Sears. Google sand paper cleaning stick. It is a real product and has worked for me over the past few years.
