Are ya kiddin me???? Come on. I won't mention names of some big magazines I know we all have been faithful with subscriptions, and just plain buying them. Now they seem to think, hey why not charge everybody for all the clips and techs, etc. that we've been watching fer free forever!!!!!!!! I'M PISSED !!!! WTF

Roger you are absolutely right. OldKranky has the solution. It is getting ridiculous. I don't mind buying subscriptions to a few decent mags, but when they start charging for access to the website videos, it is crossing the line.

i think its ridiculous that people should have to pay for this information, i think subscribing to their magazines should be enough to get a full pass to the site, it makes it difficult for those woodworkers who, like me, are just starting out and cant get all the information they want to go further and do better than they have previously, its just another plot to squeeze every last drop of cash out of those that are already paying more than they should do!!!

Lets be honest here.
Shhh.. I dont buy magazines.
I google search for the magazine online for free, I download them online to my ipad, where I can read them on IBooks, without wasting money or getting a HUGE pile of books, Also, If i dont like that magazine, I just delete it.
I find that Usually, i can find the issue i want, and if the newest issue isn't online yet for free, I just wait a week, and someone puts it online.
Another thing is, If they want you to buy plans because you are missing a certain issue, Just look online, and you can get the plans and the magazine for free.
I get a advantage, And the magazine publishers get the disadvantage.
Simple as that.

I don't support Piracy in any way so I cant support your opinion Alex theft of intellectual property is wrong. I also prefer a hard copy. I don't like reading on a screen. I will barley read a Kendall the old one with ink technology that reads like a book in the sun. I cant condone the theft of property and I hope they figure out a way to stop the theft.

Honestly I get most of my information from youtube where there are usually several examples of the same project which gives different angles and techniques. I grab the magazine off the rack now, look if there is a project that interests me and that I will actually find the time to do over and above the current list and if not I put the mag back. Most everything else they say in there is just a rehash of something they've said before and isn't worth buying a new mag.

David K - "With magazines, you are the product, not the customer. They really don't care about your opinion."

Conversely, without subscribers they have no product.

Whether they want to charge to view their content online is within their right and I don't have a problem with it if they do. The way I see it, they are making themselves less accessible to the general public, which is good for the smaller content providers. If subscribers, members, or loyal visitors are the product, then that is more product for the little guys.
