So, if this forum is not supposed to be politically oriented and the coffee shop was closed for basically this reason, why are there political ads running at the top of the pages?

COL's got it all right on this one. I'm a Republican and I'm already sick of seeing Romney's face flanking all the projects I love here. Like COL said, I don't get to make the rules.

Joe, I use a weakly powered little netbook for my LJ'g. The processor is too slow to run much in the background. On my big rigs, I have a blocker installed.

Whitewulf- adblock has a free version that is well known and highly regarded, why should it be any surprise that Lumberjoe uses and recommends it. That's like suggesting Delta pays me off every time I praise my fine quality bandsaw or drill press (you know where to send the check to for that one Delta, and no skimping, I mentioned two tools).
That said, I like the ads, but they do adjust to the sites you visit based on the cookies on your computer. Mine usually feature bike equipment, tools, comics and ta ta's; what more can a guy ask for.

Adblock is free. I'm not even aware of a paid version. As far as processing power, it is just a browser plug in and does not require anything special. My son has a little netbook and I run it on that also with no issues. I use google chrome as a browser and find that functions well on a netbook as well as larger more powerful computers.. It is very fast and very light weight. I know talking about browsers is similar to politics and religion. Everyone has their own strong opinion, and they aren't likely to change it, but if you haven't used Chrome, give it a shot.

I also use software that disables tracking cookies, so if I were to allow ads, I have NO idea what they would be based on.
