I use Mortise & Tenons as joinery for my arts and crafts furniture and its seems pretty straight forward. But then I got to thinking (think, think, think). There has to be more then one way to use these clever joints how many ways and types and uses of Mortise & Tenons are there uses for?
EXAMPLE: Draw board Tenon USE: Make a tenon draw tighter and gives more strength.
Woodbum I like haunched tenons because they resists "racking", I was considering using them for cabinet doors with pins for decoration. The other reason is you can just lower the bit/blade to ad the recess for the panel and avoid stop cuts. I think it would look good on shaker doors because there are no raised panels and would give maximum strength. OnlyJustME They do look good and are great if your building Knock down furniture and as KnockKnock said "Half dovetailed wedged through tenon" show craftsmanship and provide a stronger joint.
