Fred Hargis: I realize it’s hard to compare the two DCs. I would have compared the Grizzly 1.5 HP DC but it is only $25 cheaper than the 2HP version. I figured for just a little more, I could have a true 2HP DC – both models from Grizzly come with a 2.5 micron filter bag. After reading everyone’s posts, I was leaning toward the Harbor Freight DC until I saw the pic knotscott posted. What a difference! I need to give this some careful thought. I don’t have a large shop: I use my large 1-car garage. Everything is very compact. I will probably just move one hose from machine to machine when I work. I don’t think I need to think about “down the road” as much. What I have now is most likely the limit of what I will need. If I get the HF DC, and add the Wynn filter and a chip separator then I’m pretty much set. I guess If something breaks down the line, I could replace with a comparable or better motor or impeller for less than a new DC. I’ll probably go out on Thursday to get the DC. I’ll post when I get it up and running. Thank you everyone for your help. And if anyone hasn’t posted yet, feel free to chime in. It’s not too late to change my mind! Dave |
