New here but have viewed many threads and projects for quite a while. I'm still fairly new to woodworking as I started last year. One of my first purchases was a Dewalt 7491rs table saw, unfortunately I've run into issues with it the biggest is the top is not flat so getting an accurate cut is near impossible. So I am in a spot to upgrade to a better quality and longer lasting saw. Right now I am looking at the new model Laguna F2 table saw and the new Grizzly G0833P. I keep going back and forth so looking for some input from people with more experience. I should add I cant run 220V right now hence the choice of saws. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

At the price point of the Fusion, I'd opt for the Jet Proshop….it has very similar under pinnings as the Fusion, and a better fence. The Fusion has a two piece aluminum front rail…the Proshop has a single piece steel rail fence.

The Grizzly is a little better value than the Fusion IMO, but is less proven. Early reports have been positive.

So a little update, I stopped by a couple tool places in southern oregon and talked to the guys there and got their opinions. Every person pretty much agreed if I could go with different saw they would suggest it. One tried pushing the jet pro but its just missing things that I want such as a good dust collection system, cabinet mounted trunnions, etc… I've really thought about getting a sawstop pro cabinet as I talked to a couple people that had the contractor model just below it and they all suggested if I go that route to wait to be able to buy the professional cabinet saw instead. I'd rather not spend that much money but working in my dads shop in the back woods where no one is around the saw stops safety mechanism does sound very appealing. My big thing is I'm stuck with 110V so anything over 1 3/4hp is out of the picture, is the 1 3/4 hp saw stop worth it? Any other suggestions is appreciated.

The Jet Proshop does have cabinet mounted trunnions, very similar to those on the Laguna. They mount to the front and back cross rails, and are lighter duty than those found on true industrial cabinet saws, but still make alignment easier to adjust.

FWIW, most sales guys don't have much good to say about Grizzly due to the fact that they make no commission from them. Take their opinions as such.

Have you checked your local used market for a decent saw to tide you over til you can save up for the saw you really want?

Hi Dave Welcome to Ljs
Laguna's customer service has had bad reviews in the past. I live in Southern Oregon also if If you would like to see a SawStop The school where I teach my adult woodworking class has one you could check out if you're close to Riddle in Douglas County.

I also checked out the Fusion 2 at my local Rockler store. Yes, it is being closed out for a "new" model. However, the new model is not substantial as far as design. To the point, they are discounting to clear inventory.

I am also in the market for a 110v-120v (20 amp circuit) saw because I am working out of my garage. I have a budget of around $1100. I am curious as to why as quoted above:

"The first impression: Piece of crap. Grizzly is significantly more of a saw. (I judge by G0715P)"
Any specifics on design or function? suggestions for alternative purchase-EG Grizzly G0715 and why?
I am fairly new to working but mechanically inclined. However, I have not tuned/dialed in a contractor/cabinet saw and need to take my set up and my technical ability in mind.

Thanks,
Robert

Some years ago I made the unfortunate choice to buy a Laguna Table Saw. It was a piece of junk. The owner of the company actually came out twice to try to fix (which was impressive), replacing pulleys and motors and eventually got it running smoothly. But this took months and I had to threaten lawsuit. I could go on and on. Looks good on paper, had some great features (heavy weight) but the devil is in the details and there were just too many little gotchas that an unsuspecting buyer will find out as he attempts to use it.

I recently had a conversation with a rep from a different company about Laguana, whether he was in the know or not, I'm not sure. He certainly talked like he knew…..... According to him Laguana has had a change in management in the last few years. The new CEO recognized the short falls and is trying desperately to repair them. He has had some success in repairing the CS division. ( I had a friend buy a BS last month and CS called him to see if he was happy or had any issues…thats impressive) They also bought Supermax, and have recognized that the table saw was nasty and are coming out with a new model to fix the sins of the last one…now if you have the old one, god help you…

I have a lathe, but have never had to work with CS, but like it alot. I looked at my friends BS and it is very nice….the table is kind of low compared to my Jet, but has some innovative features. SO I think Laguana is trying.WHile that is a good price for hybrid, from what I heard and what was said here, I might stay away from that TS…...
