I typically advise against going over 2hp with a motor upgrade for a 1hp to 1.5hp saw, but many of the Steel City/Orion made saws are made to accept either, so as long as they’re confirming it’s ok, no reason not to if you’re willing to spend the money.

Many times good alignment and the right blade can make a huge difference in how powerful the saw feels, but I assume you’ve done all that you can. A fence change should also be a nice improvement.
