Thanks for your opinion. A little research on my own and based on a stanley hand plane dating flow chart, the plane for sale is a type #2. The source of my findings is form hyperkitten.com. You said that type #1 and type #2 planes have a solid adjustment knob. According to some people that is true and according to others that is not true. Anyway, thanks for your comments and information. Based on what I have found and what you have found, it just sounds like it would be very hard to date this plane exactly.
