Tyrone, I actually sent a reply message back to the greeters when I signed up on Lumberjocks. It was to the effect that even if this welcome message were bot-generated, it’s nice for real users to welcome you… no matter how short that welcome is. I have been a moderator on other sites and I’m still a member of other communities (I have a lot of hobbies/interests). I tried to join SawmillCreek but my name must appear funny to them or something, because they removed me as a member not once, not twice, but three times! I even sent a message to them after the first time letting them know I’m an actual person. No response. So, after the third time, I sent them a message on why I would never bother with signing up for them again and that I will let people know the level of community they will receive as a new member. I like Lumberjocks because most people here are generally willing to help, the site provides freedom to speak about other sites, reviews, and projects. -- "Well, at least we can still use it as firewood... maybe." - Doss |
