Floor first.

The Murphy is largely plywood, so you want good stuff. Paint grade gives you an opportunity to go with a less costly face veneer. I’d stay away from MDF because of the joinery that’s involved but Chris Davis may have better, contrary information there. I’ve built three of these from the Rockler kits and if you pay attention in construction, they work really well.
