ONE WORD: METAL DETECTORS Barn wood has NAILS and such. Find and remove all metal. ThenYou can resaw/ plane whatever. Sometimes achainsaw will work to rough size the wood to length. I have been doing “Barn Wood” for the past year. A couple CHEAP rip blades for the tablesaw/ circular saw is a good idea, as well. Sometimes, You get some VERY GOOD wood out of these items:
