You had a great result with your saw stop. I’m glad you didn’t get hut and I’m also glad you weren’t forced to buy one. The issue is all about free choice. The government has no right to force you to be safe. If you choose to, that’s your choice. Not everyone as the same need to have a saw shop mechanism on their saw. The one saw accident I had was limited to two very tiny cuts on my thumb and first finger. They didn’t need stitches because I raised the blade only enough to clear the work piece by the depth of cut I was willing to risk. My accident was the result of my listening to talk radio and not paying attention. I didn’t run out and buy a sawstop, I turned off the radio. My choice… But, government regulations won’t force sawstop on us, insurance and liability issues will.
