Try looking up amercan woodwoRker under google books, lots of the old issues are free. There are also a couple of chests that fine woodworking has done, if you find one you like and I have a copy of it I’ll send it. I recently got their CD so I don’t mind passing out my printed copies from the magazines I bought. I’ve never really found a free plan I like. As someone else suggested there is also the library, I built a stool from the plans in a new yankee book and they sometimes have magazine back issues.
