If it is a DEPRESSION running the length of the board then mveach has the answer. A piece of knot or short length of broken off wood (as in grain run out at the trailing end of a board) can wedge in a feed roller or bed roller and cause a bruise mark or depression. In fact anything wedged in rollers etc can cause it.
I wish the OP had supplied a picture- a helpful answer would be had easier, instead of speculations or mantras…..
