Unless I need a tool for a job I’m doing I only buy used or deeply discounted stuff, easier to swallow the cost. Used stuff is vintage Craftsman table and band saw, Dewalt RAS, got a new in box RIDGID jointer from a guy who just got divorced and lost his storage space for less than half price. Vintage Delta lathes are all over the place. If I were setting up a cabinet shop or had an LLC and could deduct it all I would buy the latest and greatest. For just staying busy and out of the house, not so much.
