That’s a decent price if the saw works well, I would think that a straight edge and some feeler gauges might work to check run out, but a dial indicator is a very useful shop aid and not too expensive, so you might think about getting one. Turn the motor by hand and see if there is any roughness in the bearings and try and push the shaft in and out and up and down for play.
