no offense Howie, but you just basically told the guy the same thing as, go to the book store… He still doesn’t have any clue what book is good or a decent resource

I too have been interested in this subject, and what I have found is that with different residential codes around the country, there aren’t any definitive books that you could use. For instance, is the insulation in your attic supposed to be 8 inches deep or 14? I guess it really depends on where you live. I would assume there are quite a few of those type issues that you would want to look at.

For just general knowledge, I have been looking at the Holmes on Homes website every once in a while… He has a blog there that covers many aspects of the home inspection process, and common problems that homes have. Although he is based out of Canada, it is all really good information. Specific code info will probably be more difficult to figure out.
