Big difference Mark.
1st you have white birch and yellow birch.
White birch is soft and very easy to work.
Yellow birch is a little softer than maple.
I have used all three.
White birch for floors is a no no.
Yellow birch is good for floors but maple is harder.
I made two bedroom set one with white birch and one with maple and they are completly of different color.
