I’m sure you know that the time changes were started because of all of the kids waiting at rural bus stops for their trip to school. The idea was that they wouldn’t have to wait in the dark. That isn’t much of an issue anymore, but traditions die hard. – lol

Since I’m an early riser, I would prefer DST year round. I really dislike Dec. and Jan. when it’s dark at 5:30 pm.
