It’s true they have specific applications. Some may be bigger
that you are expecting. There are little ones too.

The horizontal ones are of general usefulness for jigs in
the shop but do note which way the handle points when
the clamp is down. I have the straight ones mostly,
they are about 8” long when in the clamping position.

Handle orientation is a clearance issue and an ergonomic
one if doing a lot of clamping and unclamping.
