I always used this simple formula to price jobs:

material + labor + overhead + profit = price

Estimating labor can be tricky, and is why many contractors will try to do jobs time &’materials. Takes all the risk out of it for them.

-- The optimist says "the glass is half full". The pessimist says "the glass is half empty". The engineer says "the glass is twice as big as it needs to be"
