Good point Loren. Most quality routers come with centering cone which allow you to very precisely center the bit in the round base of your router.

If your router didn’t come with one, you can buy them aftermarket and they are, for the most part, not brand specific. It a cone on a shaft that mounts in the router collet and centers the baseplate.
