The Jet will have an induction motor, which will be stronger, quieter, and longer lasting. Grizzly sells the same machine with green paint.

I have wondered whether a Byrd helical head is available for that planer. Of course, you would give up the molding feature, unless you’re willing to swap out cutter heads as needed. Advantage of the Byrd is it’s much quieter, and the old knife setting hassle is gone. And the carbide cutters last a long time.
