I have that exact same shaper. I bought it new probably 25 years ago (guessing here but its close). I was doing it for a living at the time, so it got a lot of use. I replaced the 1 hp motor with a 3hp. I honestly can not remember if the 1 hp burnt out or I just wanted more power.

When I moved out of my shop, it sat for a few years. When I built my new shop I was unsure whether I would set it up. I had taken the motor off it for something else, but found myself with an extra 3 hp motor, so its back in service again.

It’s a little loud, and I need to figure out a better dust collection system. Shapers seem to send dust though out the shop.

Either way, you’ve got a great deal and I think you’re going to be glad you bought it.

I called HF a while back. This is what the tech told me about a router bit adapter. I never ordered them because I’m not sure I’d want to run router bits in the shaper.
We have no way to say for sure that you would be able to use the parts
from the 95668 on the 138 as item 138 is discontinued and we do not have
any that we could check. If you would like to order the parts you are
welcome to do so and if they do not work you can send them back for a
refund as long as you call within 30days of receiving the parts. If you
would like to order those parts please call 1-800-444-3353 or
1-800-423-2567 and request the following item numbers. #10210.0zza 102 95668 COLLET NUT back ordered until
