Thanks for the advise guys. I will probably do as Brandon said and just go with the key holes on 16” centers. Jim if it were my home I would build it to fit and I would definitelly have screws hitting studs. The problem is this is for a lady that wants to give it to her brother for christmas and I have no idea of where its going in the home. It will be 3’ long and if he puts it on a large wall it won’t be a proplem but if he puts it on a 3 1/2’ wall then chances are my keyholes won’t hit a stud so he will have to use some kind of dry wall attachments. I guess I shouldn’t really be worried about it because the lady didn’t call until this morning and wants it before christmas so I am being nice and working into the nights trying to squeeze her in. She asked how long it would take and I told her after christmas and she said well I figured you kept some extras built (I have never built one of these so I don’t know where she got that idea). I told her everything I do is built upon request but I would squeeze her in since it is a simple design that she wanted. I needed to vent haha i’m just thinking about how busy this weekend and next week is going to be.
