Of course, there is also option #4 – just leave it alone. It looks like it s pretty secure (wire nuts and then taped). It will still work fine… just ugly.

Yeah, I meant to point that out but forgot. There’s really nothing wrong with wire nuts and tape as long as they’re applied properly. Looks like those were taped up with strain relief so whoever did it probably knew what they were doing. I don’t see anything that requires fixing unless you just don’t like it.
