Hello friends,

I want to ask you experts a question, maybe a little bit silly but for me it is a problem.
I have a Festool OF1000 router and my wife want to give me for my birstday a PORTER-CABLE 4212 12" the luxe Dovetail jig.
So far no problem, but my OF1000 router has a 8 mmjiclamping collet and the Porter-cable works has a 1/2" shank.
What will I need that I can work whit my Festool OF1000 and the PORTER-CABLE 4212 12"the luxe Dovetail jig?
I hope you understand my problem?
Maybe there is somebody how has the same combination or has the same problem.
The PORTER-CABLE 4212 is, I think, a good tool, it get several times best Value, but maybe there is another tool
that does the same but works better whit my Festool (and cost the same)

Thanks for your help.

Greeting from the Netherlands,

Schummie.

Hello Teenagewoodworker,

CONGRATULATED whit your 1000th post.
Yes that is also a possibility , but what do I need for this Super Jig?
If looked on the website van Leigh and I think it is a great company,
everything looks very good.
Do you think that you have more possibilities whit a Leigh.

Thanks for your help, up to the 2000th.

I'll throw in another recommendation for the Leigh Super! You'll have to get the bushing adapter for your OF1010 (it's an inexpensive part, I think it cost less than US$15, you may already have it), but the jig works great with my 1010, the Porter Cable's bits are 8mm, which is the native size of the 1010, and it's a great combo that works really nicely.

Hello Dan,

thanks for your help.
I was a little confuse after your first e-mail, but now I understand you.
You find that the Festool and the Leigh are a good commendation?
Strange but I keep hanging on the Porter Cable, why, i don't now,
there both 12", I think that the Leigh is from a better qualitie (I think)
are there maybe more accessories by the Porter Cable?
I even think that the Porter Cable is not working whit my Festool

Dan, thanks again.

Greeting from the Netherlands,

Schummie.

Yes. I've got the OF1010 and the Leigh Super 24, and I've done several joints with this combination and it's worked really well.

The Leigh bits have an 8mm shank, which is nice because it's good for a dovetail bit to have a narrow shank, but you obviously want your bit shank to be as large as possible given the bit, so they fit the OF1010 really well. The OF1010 is very easy to control, setup (at least for the through dovetails I've done so far) is simple, I'd definitely buy this combination again!
