Larry-

well I am glad you are back up and running….I just turned on my planner and 10 seconds later I hear a pop and see smoke rise.

I have the G0543Z also. So I raced to pull of front panel…and once that was off felt the motor box which was pretty warm….removed that plastic panel and found oily gunk exploded on the whole inside.

Clearly the capacitor just blew and left its guts everywhere. I just got off the phone with Grizzly…of course I am “just” out of warranty so I am biting the bullet on this one. Not that this is an expensive part @ $20…but it is the down time that is killing me right now.

What I did learn is this for anyone after I got off the phone was that the part recommended as replacement is not the same capacitor in there. They are replacing the part inside with a 300 microfarad 250V max capacitor. What was in there was a 250 microfarad 250V max capacitor. That was not mentioned on the phone…so I am wondering if this was a common problem…which I asked him and they replied no. Who knows?

Also he said that there is a possibility that the motor contact could have been burnt also.

Here are the Grizzly part numbers for anyone else who runs into this problem

Capcitor #PC300C ($21.75)
Motor Contact #PCP001 (($5.75)

These can also be sourced locally in electronic motor shops btw.
