My "woodshop" is in an unheated garage in north Texas. Temperatures in the shop get down close to freezing in the winter, possible a few degrees below. Even if the temperatures never drop below 32 F, would it still be a bad idea to keep water stones in such an environment?
will water freeze in your shop? If so, I wouldn't chance it. I live in the north east. I switched to oil stones for just that reason. I keep my whet grinder in the house in the winter.
Normally it takes a sustained period of well below freezing to freeze water in an enclosed space. My question is, how do you keep the water from boiling away in that Texas heat?
I store mine wet with a couple drops of bleach to prevent mold. I do have a heated shop.
