you can apply almost any finish over a previous finish if you use a coat of wax free shellac first , and you can even add a tint to it to help accomplish the color you want. Sorry you did all that sanding and striping . I f you need help e mail Charles Neil he’s a finishing expert and he will answer you question. his advise you can take to the bank. He has some great videos on finishing and wood working too.
