I have a set of the lee valley lipped bits.
In a drill press sometimes they will cut a very small round disk out at the beginning of the hole.If it gets trapped between the Spurs then it will prevent the bit from drilling.
So the choice is to remove it or add more pressure.
It took me a few try’s to use my bits properly in a drill press.With a hand drill they are grabby and will self feed.Eps in certain woods.
They have their place for very precise hole making.
