I tried to look in the reviews section but it wasnt all that helpfull unless i wanted to sit here all day and read every review that has been done then discern wich one sounded good.

I think i want a random orbit sander i guess and i was thinking maybe one shaped like the mouse ones so i could get corners. like can you get a pad shaped like that to switch out your round pad that came with the one you bought? ability to get corners quality fo tool and dust controll are main concerns i guess. any help and guidance would be apreciated thankyou everyone.

oh yeah my father just sent me a bunch of my great great grandfather Livingstons {he came here with my other ancestors from Whales} block planes for christmas he was a master carpenter and mason {not brick mason} these planes are from the very early 1900's i believe. where do i post these on here?

thamkyou guys i am gonna research the Dynabrade Spirit airdriven sounds quality length of service to me i like working on mechanical thing also preventive maintinance would be pretty easy on those i suspect. the 7 P's proper prior planing prevent piss poor performance.

Love my Dynabrade Spirit BUT you do need a large compressor to run it. Whatever ROS you get, Abranet discs will improve both speed and dust collection. Norton 3X is also excellent. Poor paper on a great sander=poor results!

The best bang for your buck in a true ros is the rockwell they offer two models the one draw back is you need to buy their paper but the thing has no vibration on your hand and the dust colection is second to none you caN BUY IT ON AMAZONfor under a cnote delivered stock up on your paper i buy mine in the 50 sheet boxes the first thing about the sander is the paper lasts 5 times longer than any other paper out there and theb no vibration means you can sand longer with out getting tired I love mine I cant wait to test the new variable speed sander it looks like another winner for sure. I am writing my review of this up this week but i tossed out two old sanders after using this one for the past few months

Hi guys, just found this topic on google. I am in urgent need of orbit sander machine and i don't know which brand i should go with. I also came across some Orbit Sander Reviews however almost all of them are same and very confusing and they didn't help me make my decision at all. So, please if some here used multiple brands, i would really like to hear your opinion before i buy my sander.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, I know this is an old thread.
Interesting that the above set of reviews included the high end Festool product but left out Mirka, probably an even better sander. I have a Mirka Ceros and absolutely love it but I wouldn't spend the money again as my cheap HF air sander actually performs just about as well. It isn't as quiet and vibration free or anything but there is a very wide price difference.
Just a note on discs …. Mirka Autonet is cheaper than Abranet and performs just as well.

I have the makita BO5041 and it is the best i have used so far, The bosch with the filter is 59.99 at lowes right now and i am thinking of picking one up. Jim has interested me to try the Milwaukee but I haven't been having luck with their tools lately. stay away from ryobi and rigid

I have a DeWalt which is heavy and powerful. I have a Porter Cabel which is heavy but compact. (Not tall like the DeWalt). My" go to" sander is my Festool. It is the lightest and slowest running. I like light for sanding the small items I make.

Here is a good review
Mirka/Deros sander http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/5097
Festool
And a general purpose Harbor Freight palm sander
These are what I currently use and give them a thumbs up. From what I have heard Bosch is well liked, but I am not a Bosch user. If you are seeking a mouse type sander stay away from the "cheapies" and you may want to consider a Fein. There is an addage that I used to use when building cabinets- don't get stuck into tight corners. Those areas are best solved with pre-finishing.

Great reviews- what is your budget Harbor Freight to Mirka? It is all about budget and what you can get for your $$$

I bought the Ridgid 5" ROS a couple of months ago and I am very pleased.
It looks a lot like the Milwaukee pictured above, but the power switch is different.
It took me a few uses to get used to turning it off one handed but now it is second nature.
I like the soft start feature, I don't know if variable speed is useful or not, so far I have left mine on max.
The dust collection works well, the bag twists and locks on.
