Some types of pine are notorious for bleeding thru paint unless you seal with a shellac sealer first…. they make some shellac sealers just for this exact purpose!!! It really depends on the type of pine or even the time of year that some pine is cut. I’ve never painted over the knots with enamel like cr1 said but it seams like that would work…. besides you need to paint this table with ENAMEL to begin with because it “wears” better than other types of paint. Especially high gloss enamel!!!!

Kilz makes a really good primers for sealing over knots also but it’s very expensive!!! Good Luck!!

Edit: If you use several coats of a good enamel paint then there is no need to apply anything else on top of that!!!!!
