I can’t speak for poly since I don’t use it (ima shellac guy) however I’ve been amazed at the results I’ve had from Renaissance Wax http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2003235/462/Renaissance-Wax.aspx yep it’s expensive but you don’t need much and it hardens really well.

Alternatively, plain carnuba wax is fantastic also.

On the flipside. I’ve truthfully never used anything by minwax that I’d consider as offering good results. Some others might disagree but I don’t touch the stuff anymore.
