Shellac Loss

Found an interesting mess in my cabinet this weekend. Turns out the lid on my Bullseye Sealcoat was not completely sealed. It seems the shellac refluxed in the heat and then condensed in the cabinet - there is no leak in the can only the lid not seated, but the can is completely empty and there is a big puddle of shellac gluing down the cans of stain and such.
Anyone else have something like this happen? Is it like a glass of booze where you can watch the alcohol reflux on the sides, so it "Pumped" itself dry?

Temps here have been 105-108, I only kick on the AC window unit when I am working. This is new to me in the 7 years of the shop being in the 1 car garage.

Happened to me also and it made a hell of a mess. My shop goes from zero to over 100 degrees in the course of a year. After trying alcohol to dissolve it I gave up and just rough sanded the spot it left on the metal shelf.

'Thanks guys - also good to hear I am not the only one with a Magic cabinet in the shop.
I would originally have suspected that if the lid wasn't sealed well - just the alcohol would evaporate and leave the shellac resin at the bottom of the can - but what a mess - looks like honey but sticks like roofing tar :-0

Funny, same thing happened to me this week. Was sharpening a skew and saw shellac dripping down the wall below the cabinet where I store finishes, etc. Opened the cabinet, everything a mess. 1/4 of a can of DNA later and all is well, and that cabinet shelf is some kind of pretty…........

PS And this is in my basement, so no temperature extremes….....
