I don’t know the answer to that but I found a Stanley sb4 which according to most ppl is junk. The sole was flat the cheeks were 90 degrees perfect, now the adjustment is a total pain in the ass but when set right it cuts like a champ. So I finally got it adjusted right and its pretty darn good on the shooting board that’s all I use it for. If you find a cheap one that’s a good user but the cheeks aren’t square just adjust the lateral adjustment till it cuts90 on your board or spend hours trying to square them. What I’m saying is you can find a good shooting board plane for a lil bit of nothing if that’s all you use it for.
