I would disagree with cordless saws being a waste of money; maybe you got a cheap one. I use my makita to break down sheets and a variety of other tasks that would take more effort out to get the corded. I think I have only used my corded one or two times since I got it three years ago. Sure the cordless doesn’t have quite as much power, but it is more likely to stop if you bind versus causing kickback. As far as a dedicated track saw, if you use a vacuum, you already have something hooked up so an extra cord isn’t too big of a deal, so corded might be a better choice.
