Need a shorter fence for my Sawstop ICS

If any Northern California SawStop ICS owners would like to swap, I have a 52" Shop Fox W2006 fence and a non-Sawstop Mobile base that came with my recent used Sawstop purchase. It's much too large for my garage, and a 36 would give me space to walk by the saw (=

I know it's a slim chance that someone is out there wanting to trade, but what the heck, I'll give it a shot!

Or if someone is selling their Sawstop 36" setup, I'm interested.

Options I'm avoiding for now:

cutting the rails
buying shorter shop fox rails ( cant find any)
buying an Incra

I have a 36" kit for the PCS, I am not sure if it is compatible. I have been looking to exchange it with someone for the 52".

For what it is worth, I am in Oregon.

SawStop is saying that the two (ICS rails and PCS rails) are not interchangeable.

That said, YOU can buy SawStop fences from any SawStop dealer.

Thanks for that clarification. I figured that if Incra charges extra to modify their fences for the ICS, they must be different, and you have confirmed this. Yeah, I can pay retail plus their inflated shipping and handling, but I'm looking for a mutually beneficial option first…if I can just swap with a fellow wood jockey and make a new friend, I've come out ahead!

Why can t you just cut the rail shorter? Or just buy some steel tube stock and cut it to size and hold onto the SS tube for later use should you have room for a longer extension.

Oh, I can cut the rail, but that rail is now worth much less. I don't know if it's odd to do so, but resale value is something I take into consideration when buying tools. Besides, if someone locally can use the rail as-is, that's the best option. I'd rather buy a shorter rail as you said. Ideally, a Sawstop OEM solution would be my first choice since they designed it with their own saw in mind.

The long route is to just buy the ICS fence and sell mine at my leisure, which I would do if a used ICS fence setup appears.

If you are agaisnt simply cutting your rails down, ICS Fence Rail is standard 3" x 2" steel tube. (As is Beisemeyer) They use it for steel door frames, so it's really common.
You can get it in a few gauges, the lighter 3/32" gauge is what I think most fence manufacturers use (SawStop and Beisemeyer to name a few) but some people will jump up to 3/16. This would be a very affordable alternative to cutting your rails.

Of course you would also need to get the angle iron, (3" x 2.5" front, 2.5" x 2" rear) and do all that drilling and notching,.

Cutting your rails would be the easiest and cheapest solution.
Can you say "Portaband"? :) Do it right in place, 10 minute job, no need to remove anything. ;)

Well here s a relatively inexpensive option. Probably won t be much bidding on this. Says 30" but rules to 34" to the right of the blade. Good luck which ever way you go. Ebay link

Shoot, other than shipping costs, that's a sweet deal! At least the only possible drilling would be the attachment points to the ICS table, the rest (which is a lot) is done.

Agree. Thought it was a pretty good option, price considered and it comes with the angle irons so no need to cut the OEM SS irons. Holes may or may not align, but that's an easy fix.

I have a 36" kit that I removed from my saw I can sell you. You just need to figure out how to rig it and make it work with your saw. I replaced my fence with the Incra fence. Also have an extra cast iron wing and the black table from the saw as well since I had to remove it to install their router table.

You had me at 10 minute job! Thanks for all of the info! That definitely helps out. For some reason, metal hates when I try to drill it. I can't seem to figure that out. oil, going slow, etc… I just suck at it.

Thanks for the offer! Since your saw isn't the industrial version, the fence is different, but I do appreciate it!
