I always lean toward the cheapest workable solution. Almost all my tools are CL finds, for instance. I didn't go bottom of the barrel for most of my router bits, but I didn't spend a ton either. In the last three months I have purchased 3 Whiteside bits, straight 1/4" and 3/8" and a rabbeting bit set. I had purchased a cheap (in every way) rabbeting set because I didn't think I'd use it much. Instead, the cheap rabbeting bit chewed up the frames I was working on.
I am stunned at how clean all three of these bits cut. I will buy Whiteside bits going forward.
I certainly agree with your decision. I have purchased and use the Whiteside bits. I have a 6 piece set of 1/2" shaft and 5 single 1/4" shaft speciality bits. All cut super and are somewhat cheaper than other Freud bits I also own.
I feel that Whiteside bits are the best available. I have been using them for about 10 years now and have replaced any other worn bits from other brands with Whiteside. Quality always is the best value in the long run.
I've only buy Whiteside router bits. They've proven to be the best and most economical over the long haul. Buy the best and it will last you a lifetime, buy the cheapest and buy it a 2nd, 3rd and 4th time!
A no brainer from my perspective.
Whiteside is my favorite, whenever they make what I need, and I've been using them at least 20 years. I have yet to have a problem with any of them. They just always work really well.
We've been using Whiteside soild surfacing bits to do most all of our soild surface countertops with since the 90's and have never had a failure with one.
After recommendations here, I started using ws bits. Could not be happier. A definite upgrade for me.
