From my experience moving that 2hp dust collector 30’ away to a seperate building will cause problems. The first is that the length of the run will reduce the suction greatly. The second problems comes from the fact that when all of that air is being sucked out of the shop you need an adequate source of return air. Your conditioned air, a/c or heated, will also be replaced by that unconditioned air from the outside.

I have my shop in my baasement and I had a DC similar to yours. It was not big enough to collect from the entire shop unless I hooked it up to one machine at a time. I finally bit the bullet and bought a cyclone and it services my entire 24 X 32 shop. I have metal runs to all of my machines, 11 drops, with blastgates at each drop. I just open the blastgate where I am working and push the remote control to start or stop the cyclone. That’s the best money I ever spent.
