I hope that this doesn't come across the wrong way, but my granddad sent me the Festool EQ 1400 router as a gift, and I want to find a project that will really be a skill building project for the router and myself.
I know that seems ridiculous and even crazy that I was given such a nice tool, but I would love any suggestions or direction as to a good project.
I need a new Grand Dad. Dont' apologize for owning a nice tool (and that's a nice tool). There are people here gloating over gifted wood that cost more than your router! You could practice making long dados. I seem to have trouble with these myself. Good luck!
I would suggest the same as bertha above … i just did a pigeon hole shelf system that require a ton of stopped dadoes evenly spaced. It really opened my eyes to making jigs for the router. Here's what it looked like :
Wow Chrisstef! That's a lot of pigeon holes. I've been longing for a project like this but I keep hoping I'll find a old card catalog box so I don't have to build it! Definitely a project for Grand Dad.
